Myriam Halberstam reads "A Horse for Hanukkah"

Nov 30 2011

Come celebrate the Festival of Lights
with children's book author Ms. Myriam
Halberstam as she reads from her
wonderful book, "A Horse for Hanukkah."
"A horse who speaks Hebrew! This story of Hannah and her clever but willful horse, Golda, will delight both children and parents. The charming illustrations capture the magic of Hanukkah, while the lively tale speaks to any child who has yearned for a pet. A funny, warm celebration of family life." (Kate E. Brown, Dept. of English, State University of New York at Buffalo)
"Especially in German society with its growing cultural and religious diversity it is indispensable for the children of the majority to learn about the holidays of the minorities. Myriam Halberstam´s new book, A Horse for Hanukkah, addresses this need in an exceptional way – suitable for children, amusing and readily understandable, even while describing a world that most readers in Germany are not familiar with. This beautiful picture book celebrates Hanukkah, the Festival of Lights and shows how harmonious diversity can be.“ (Book Review by Prof.Dr. Micha Brumlik, Professor of Child Education)
She will also present “Zimmer frei im Haus der Tiere” a classic Israeli children's book by Leah Goldberg, translated into German by Mirjam Pressler and illustrated by Nancy Cote.
Saturday, December 3rd at 12:00 noon.
For children and adults 4 years and older.
 EUR 4,-- per person.
Entrance fee entitles you to EUR 4,-- off the purchase of the book.
The event will be in both English and German.
We look forward to welcoming you!
